User Permissions
For better team collaboration and to ensure the right people can see and access the right sections of Glow, we’ve introduced user permissions.
There are 3 types of user roles that you can allocate to a team member:
Owner
Whoever sets up the Glow account will be the Owner. They’re also able to add other Owners in future, should there be more than one person requiring full access over the entire account.
Owners can do everything and have the ability to fully assess their team’s performance, as well as add new clients and handle all account billing.
Account Manager
Owners can assign Account Managers to client accounts, passing over an element of control to the Account Manager for that client.
Account Managers will then run those client accounts that they’re assigned to, including having the ability to assign Developers to their accounts too.
Developer
Developers have the most restricted account type. They’re able to access things like the support tickets and to perform WordPress updates for clients that they’ve been assigned to.
However they won’t be able to do things like access account billing information or add new client websites.
Client user accounts
It’s always been possible in Glow to give your clients access to their own account and dashboard.
We firmly believe this is one of the best ways that you can prove the value of your website maintenance service to your clients.
In our latest release, we’ve overhauled this feature, giving you greater control than ever.
You choose which features they can access
When adding a user to a client’s account, you can now choose which of Glow’s features they’re able to access.
This is customisable on a user-by-user basis.
For example, you might want the owner of the client’s business to be able to access all features and for someone else in their team you might not want them to see time tracking data, so you turn off Stopwatch.
Customised welcome emails
Previously, when you added a new client user, that user would receive a welcome email from you about their new account.
You have greater control over this welcome email in our latest release and can now:
- Choose to leave the email content as is (our standard wording)
- Change the wording so that it’s more inline with your brand tone of voice
- Choose to not send a welcome email at all
Turn client user accounts off and on
On occasion, your client might ask you to turn off the access for a member of their team.
This could happen when people move to different companies or take on different roles.
This is now possible in our latest release.
You’re also able to turn their access back on again should you be asked to.
Delete a client user
Should a client user permanently no longer need access to their Glow account, you can now also delete their account.
Other upgrades
Along with the above new features around users and permissions, we’ve also brought a number of other upgrades with our latest release, including:
- The ability to activate and deactivate plugins
- The ability to delete plugins
- A new filter menu on the WordPress screen so that you can more easily work on the plugins that you need to
- An updated white label engine, allowing you to more easily add DNS records and connect your domain
